About Glacier 3000 and this guide

Is this the official Glacier 3000 website? No. This is an independent visitor guide. The official site is glacier3000.ch, run by the operator, Gstaad 3000 AG, and that is where to check live lift status.

How high is Glacier 3000? The top station at Scex Rouge is at 2,971 m and the base at Col du Pillon at 1,546 m. Nearby summits include the Dôme at 3,016 m and Les Diablerets at 3,209 m.

Where does the cable car start? At Col du Pillon, Route du Pillon 253, 1865 Les Diablerets, on the pass road between Les Diablerets and Gstaad. You change cabins once, at Cabane (2,525 m).

Is Glacier 3000 worth it? On a clear day, yes. You cross the Peak Walk, which the operator calls the only suspension bridge in the world linking two peaks, and look out to the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc and the Eiger. Pick a calm, clear day, because tickets are not refunded for weather.

Tickets and passes

How much is a ticket? CHF 95 for an adult return from Col du Pillon to Scex Rouge, CHF 48 for children aged 6 to 15, and free for under-6s. It includes the Peak Walk, the Ice Express chairlift, the Snow Fun Park and the Glacier Walk.

Does the Swiss Travel Pass cover it? It halves it: Swiss Travel Pass, GA and Half Fare card holders pay CHF 48. Children with an SBB Junior card or Accompanied Child card ride free.

Is it in the Magic Pass? Yes, for walkers and skiers from 1 November 2026 to 30 April 2027, but not in summer.

Do I need to book in advance? No. There are no timed departures; cabins leave every 20 minutes from 09:00. Buying online costs the same and just skips the ticket-office queue. Book ahead for the Peak Brunch and dog sledding.

At the top, with children and dogs

Is the Peak Walk scary? It is a real suspension bridge, 107 m long and 80 cm wide, between two summits, and you climb about 100 steps to reach it. If heights are not for you, the rooftop terrace of the Scex Rouge building, reached by lift, gives you the panorama without the bridge.

Can you ski at Glacier 3000 in summer? Not downhill: the ski season runs from 7 November 2026 to 30 April 2027. In summer you can cross-country ski along the Glacier Walk, and the Snow Fun Park is open all year.

What should I wear? Dress for the summit in every season: in winter warm boots, ski trousers, a warm jacket, gloves and a hat; in summer mountain boots and a windproof jacket. Bring sunglasses and sun cream either way.

Can I bring a baby or a dog? Babies under 15 months are not allowed up, and the operator suggests waiting until a child is 2. Dogs ride free and are welcome on a lead in the restaurants and on the Glacier Walk, but not on the ski slopes.
