Dog sledding at Glacier 3000

From November 2026, husky teams pull sleds across the glacier at Glacier 3000, starting a few minutes' walk from the bottom of the Ice Express chairlift. There are three tours, from a short Discovery ride to the 6 km Panoramic Tour to the Quille du Diable. A sled ride costs CHF 42, or CHF 110 with the return cable car (CHF 85 with a Half Fare card, GA, Swiss Travel Pass or SBB Day Ticket), booked in advance.

Huskies on the glacier

In winter the glacier at the top of Glacier 3000 becomes a sled-dog run. A team of huskies pulls you over the snow at close to 3,000 m and, on the longest tour, all the way out to the Quille du Diable. For anyone who would never put on skis, it is one of the most memorable ways to spend time up there.

The rides start a few minutes' walk from the bottom of the Ice Express, the chairlift from the top station down onto the glacier. From the car park at Col du Pillon, allow about 45 minutes to reach the meeting point: the cable car, the change at Cabane, the chairlift and the short walk.

The three tours

Pick your tour by how long you want on the sled. The Discovery Tour is a taster: 300–400 m and about 5 minutes on the sled, around 15 minutes in all. The Fun Tour covers about 3 km, with about 35 minutes on the sled and 45 minutes in total.

The Panoramic Tour is the big one: 6 km out to the Quille du Diable, with about 50 minutes on the sled and an hour in total.

When does the season start?

Dog sledding is a winter activity, running from November 2026. The winter season at Glacier 3000 runs from 7 November 2026 to 30 April 2027, so the first sled rides may come a little after the lifts open.

If you are planning a November visit, check the first sled date in the official shop before you travel.

How to book

Book in advance through the official Glacier 3000 shop, which sells the sled ride on its own (useful if you already have a cable car or ski ticket) and combined with the return cable car, with a separate combined option for Half Fare, GA, Swiss Travel Pass and SBB Day Ticket holders.

If a ride is cancelled because of the weather or the snow, you can move it to another date or ask for a refund. That is more generous than the cable car ticket, which is not refunded for bad weather.

What to wear and bring

You will be sitting still on a sled at almost 3,000 m, so dress warmly: Glacier 3000 advises warm boots, ski trousers, a warm jacket, gloves, a hat, sunglasses and sun cream in winter.

Plan the ride around the cable car, as the last ascent in winter is at 16:00. Babies under 15 months are not taken up the mountain, and the operator advises waiting until a child is 2.
